Courses & Groups
Throughout the year, we run a number of courses and groups for people of all ages. Wherever you are in your journey of life and faith; whether you're exploring Christianity and have questions, or you're a committed Christian looking to enrich your faith, we offer regular opportunities to share experiences, questions and our humanity in the light of Christ. If you'd like to find out more about upcoming courses or groups, please contact Caroline in our church office: stpeterschurch.lttm@gmail.com / 01883 712512.
Alpha Course
Alpha is a course that explores the basics of Christian faith for anyone who has questions about life and faith. The sessions are informal and fun, with refreshments, food or cakes provided each week, and run over a series of weeks. Each week you will watch a short talk on a DVD and have the opportunity to discuss as much or as little as you want in small groups. At any point, if you think Alpha isn’t for you, that’s not a problem. There’s no pressure, no follow up and no charge. Exploring Christianity We have run follow up Alpha courses, including ‘The Jesus Lifestyle’, a six-week course based on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, exploring how we can apply Jesus’ teaching to our everyday lives. Rev James has also run a pub Lent group in the The Bull, with discussions based on a book by Francis Spufford’s book ‘Unapologetic: Why, Despite Everything, Christianity Can Still Make Surprising Emotional Sense’. Confirmation and First Holy Communion Rev James runs a series of classes for anyone wanting to prepare (themselves or their child) for Confirmation or First Holy Communion. If you’d like to discuss any of these with him, you can contact him by email james.lttm@gmail.com or phone 01883 722351. Visit our Life Events page to find out more. WhatsApp Prayer Group St Peter's has its own WhatsApp prayer group where everyone involved can receive a short prayer from time to time, or share items for prayer. If you'd like to join, please contact Paul Budgen: budgep7@gmail.com with your number. |
Churches Together
Churches Together provides many opportunities to worship, pray and study with people from other churches in Oxted and district. Every year during Lent people are invited to join a Lent group. Over five weekly sessions, people meet in private homes, to explore and discuss a different topic on the Christian faith as a way of preparing for Easter.
Also affiliated with Churches Together in Oxted and District is the TIC TOC group. This is an ecumenical group which meets on Mondays between 10.15-11.15am during term time. Each week there is a different discussion or talk. Carers or parents with preschool children are welcome to bring their children along to play during the talks.
On the second Monday of each month at 7am there is a Christian Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Beadles Lane Chapel, Old Oxted. There is coffee and light continental breakfast followed by a short study or reflection and shared prayer time.
